See my heart is racing, 'cause this shit never happens to me."

What I mean by this is that it never happened that I posted something and I got a somewhat stable visitor count weeks after it. I posted my Donnie Darko "review" on the 7th of January and it's the 23th now and I still get 5-12 visitors every day. I get like 20-25 or more visitors after I post something, but this never happened. Not to say I don't appreciate it, in fact I'm really happy that so many people are interested in a small personal blog like this, it's just weird. I must be doing something right.

What I'm desperately trying to barf up here is that I'd like to thank everyone who reads my blog, it means a lot.

I guess I should write about something relevant for a change.

I opened a DeviantART page not so long ago to post my shitty art there. I'm not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoy fooling around with my doodles and with Photoshop. I also like to snap a picture with my camera every now and then. I can't really draw and I don't expect any praise at all because I know I suck. But hey, if I do take my time to sit down and draw something, I might as well share it with the world. Don't expect me to update it that often, I'll throw in something every week or two weeks or so. Can't let myself burn out, right?

You can get to my DeviantART profile from THIS LINK RIGHT HERE... YES RIGHT HERE.

I don't really have anything else to post for now, IRL stuff is taking up pretty much all my time. School starts to get rough in the last half year too, so I have to divide my attention and my irregular and completely messed up sleeping habits don't help much either.

So in lack of own content, here are some good web-comics I read. Enjoy, I guess.

Looking for Group, Ctrl+Alt+Del, PowerPuff Girls Doujinshi, Grim Tales.

Don't be turned off by the PowerPuff girls one, it's actually pretty good. Virtually every characters from the 90s Cartoon Network makes an appearance and the story is actually pretty good.

As for the rest, decide for yourself.

Thanks again for all the visitors who take the time to read my blog.

Oh, and here's some Pirate Metal.

Cellar Door

I've seen a lot of smart movies. The Shining, Inception, Moon, Fight Club, etc. I'd like to think that I know my movies, I try to fully understand them and I make effort to research even minor details. The most recent one is of course Inception, everyone knows about that one, and I absolutely love it. But there's this sort of underground movie with a semi-large cult following and it blows Inception out of the water for me. Of course I don't want to make a comparison because you can't really, it's two completely different movies. So let's cut to the chase.

I never seen a more intelligent, surprising, unpredictable and deep movie such as Donnie Darko.

I'm fully aware that I'm quite late for the party, ten years late to be precise, but what can I say. I had the opportunity many times to see this movie, I just couldn't bring myself to do so. Partially because I wasn't really interested, partially because some opinions kept me away from it. Opinions like it's nothing but shallow melodrama, an emo wetdream and a mess plotwise. Man... I was an idiot for listening to those other, even bigger idiots. But to be honest, I'm glad I didn't see it back when it came out, because I was too young to comprehend the plot, let alone the sheer complexity of it. Now that I'm in my early twenties I can safely say that I get it. Even though I had to spend a few hours thinking about it and re-watching a few scenes.

It's quite hard to describe what it's about without spoiling it and frankly (see what I did there?) I wouldn't really know where to begin without being absolutely blunt. It's the kind of movie you have to see with your own eyes, preferably without any prior knowledge regarding anything in it. It's an experience, a journey if you will into a plot so deep that you have to pay attention to every minor detail. You won't really get it until the last ten minutes or so when everything unfolds.

Returning to the first half of the post, allow me me explain a little why I like it better than Inception. You see if you thought Inception needed more explaining, you sure never seen Donnie Darko. After watching it, I seriously thought that everything was blatantly spoon-fed to me in Inception. In Donnie, nothing is explicitly explained, only vaguely hinted at, everything is really subtle at least in the theatrical cut. Said version has it's downsides however, because it feels like it's a little too subtle and it doesn't explain some fundamental elements of the plot. Because of this it's easy to get confused and you won't really understand it. If you're planning to see it, I strongly recommend the director's cut version for various reasons. While it keeps it's subtle tone, it explains way more about what's going on, but it still manages to make you guess until the very end. If you pay close attention, and take your time to read what's needed to be read (you'll see), everything will come to full circle. So the director's cut version is highly superior to the theatrical release, because you'll actually understand it at the very end, provided you pay attention.

I wish I'd seen this movie a few months ago, because I could've declared it my best movie experience of 2010. But kicking off the year with something of this calibre is not too shabby either. I strongly recommend this movie to everyone who likes complex storytelling, subtle but great acting and deep plots.

Whispers in the dark

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
          But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
          I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

I dream frequently. Dreaming always fascinated me and I'm kind of disappointed when I wake up after a dreamless night. Some people say you can tell the future from them or they even contain prophecies from gods. Personally, I think it's a bunch of shit. Although there are no universally agreed facts about dreams and we're not completely sure what purpose they serve, everyone has some theories about them. Most people try to explain the experience biologically, like they're for removing useless information from our memories or to strengthen useful ones. That's cool, but I'm more into the psychological side of things, as always. I have some theories about dreams too. Yeah, I might be full of shit too, but at least I can share my ideas with you and feel better about it. Of course the foot-stone of all my thoughts are the theories of Carl Jung. What? Don't tell me you didn't see that coming.

So we all know that our brain function on two major levels, one is the concious and the other is the sub-concious mind. During the daytime, our sub-concious is repressed by our concious mind because god knows what would happen if we'd release the deepest thoughts from our sub-concious, especially from our shadow. Things get interesting when we fall asleep because that's when we can't fully control our concious mind and thoughts. Yes, I'm aware of the stages of sleeping (N1,N2,N3 and REM), but I don't want to go into detail because I'd sit here forever. Check it out on Wikipedia if you're interested.

So our repressed thoughts can roam our minds somewhat freely when we're sleeping. Dreams are merely the reflections of our sub-concious thoughts mixed with some of our (un)processed concious ones. You might say "so how come I see people and places in my dreams I had no chance to see before?". Well, the thing is - you did. A glimpse from a TV program, a magazine, a poster, a face on the street. Your brain contains far more information than you're aware of. It pieces them together, mixes them, creates new material be it people, places or faces.

But no matter what dreams actually are, one thing is certain. We need them for various reasons. Some of us need them to let their imagination and thoughts free, others need the aid of their dreams to cope with their personal problems, others, like me just enjoy the thrill even if we're talking about nightmares.

Enjoy your dreams, cherish them because when you're dreaming you're truly free.

All in your head

Picture this if you will...

Walkin' down Millport street, hands tucked in my leather jacket for protection, although it still didn't worth a shit 'cause my fingers were still frozen to crispy popsicles if this makes any sense. Milk like fog covers my vision, I was thinking about going to surgically get infra red sight to see through this thick shit, because damn me if I could make out anything other than vague shapes at best... at least the sky was crystal clear, stars everywhere, beautiful. Pretending to be a badass as per usual, I give trees and bushes angry looks, you know as if they would care even if they were sentient. I wouldn't be the ambassador for plants that's for sure. So while trying to forget the bone chilling cold I'm trying to distract myself by imagining shapes in my cold breath I exhale and also trying to speculate on my options for the night. In my vision enters a figure standing right at the centre of the street, all motionless, standing still and seemingly staring at me and I'm like "what the hell is that", then I suddenly realize. It's the effing Slender Man and I'm knee deep in shit, oh my god I'm going to die.
Stopping dead in my track as if the concrete I was walking on turned into super-glue, my thoughts from the rest of the night orientated to the rest of my life which I reckon I thought to be a pretty short amount of time in this situation. Never feeling the fear of death it was naturally terrifying but at the same time enthralling and stimulating in a perverse kind of way I guess, like I was truly alive for the first time in my life... even though I was obviously fucked now. The figure still staring at me with it's seemingly faceless... well, face I thought what the hell might as well go and find out 'cause running away obviously won't do me any good now, according to the legends that is. Giving it the same angry look I gave the flora a few minutes ago I began to advance in it's general direction even though I seriously started to contemplate on the justifications I'd give myself after I piss my pants. To cut to the chase and make a long story short, it turned out to be an old lady waiting for her taxi, I just have the most awkward paranoias and I tend to scare myself to death with my fucked up thoughts, also my vision is like shit in foggy weather.

Or so I thought until I seen a tall inhuman like shadow pass by my window in the middle of the night, apparently lacking an owner or object it could've cast it. Right before I wanted to go to sleep.

... god damn, shit the bed.

This is Halloween

Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange?

If you wear makeup and a suit on Halloween even though it's a practically non-existent holiday in your country, you're 21 and despite all of this everyone in your favorite pub only gives you compliments and even a few free drinks.... you know you had an awesome night.

<img style="display: block; At least I got to play some games, I finally finished S.T.A.L.K.E.R. after like five years of owning it. Well it came out in 2007 but it felt like five years anyway. The ending was kinda anti-climactic, but whatever, it was still a good and challenging game so I enjoyed it throughout.

I like statistics, I like to read them on various subjects, so I figured I post some. What better statistics to post, than my own blog's? Grow that ego, Eon boy.

Well it's no secret that I'm Hungarian, so naturally I get most of my visitors from Hungary. 465 of them to be precise and for a small personal blog without any ads, it's pretty neat I think. I have a few friends in the USA and in the UK so I kinda figured I get some hits from there too. What puzzles me is the fact that I got a two visitors from Russia. Russia? Really? Why? How? Weird. Also, six hits from Norway. I don't know a single soul from Norway. Guess they like Tool too.

This is an interesting one. 56 people came here, looked at like the header image and decided to leave. Less than five seconds. That's not even enough to read a more complex sentence. Maybe they're returning visitors checking for updates, maybe stranded people who got here by accident. Probably both. Anyway, 32 people decided to stay for more than an hour. This makes me happy. Or they just clicked on my blog and went out to have dinner or to watch a movie. Interesting how the two most common visitor lengths are total opposites.

I like this one. Firefox is such an awesome browser it's neat that the majority of people use it like I do too. But seriously. Safari? Who the hell uses Safari? Who the hell owns a Mac? If you have the kind of money to choose a Mac over any given PC then lend me some of it because you obviously have more than enough. Those of you who used Internet Explorer, you should work or study instead of looking at my blog in the office or during computer science class.

Finally, here's a summary of page loads, unique visitors, first time visitors and returning ones since I started this blog back in August. Three months and 489 unique visitors and 370 of them returned. Not too shabby I might say.

On a completely different note, check out this song. I've been listening to this one for at least a week now and I'm still not bored with it. I just can't get enough of this song, it's my Surfing Bird of the month.

Struck a nerve

Don't you just love re-installing your copy of windows?

I did it not long ago. To be honest, it's kind of a guilty pleasure because of my minor obsessive compulsive tendencies. When I'm in such a mood I totally clean up my place, make everything tidy, clean and I actually enjoy the process. I don't consider this to be a bad thing, since it doesn't really affect my life in a negative way, but it's still there. Other times, my room is a complete mess and I just don't care at all. Now without sidetracking much, let's keep at the subject. So I re-install the OS on my computer when things get too hectic and I feel it would be too hard and annoying to manually uninstall all the stupid crap I ended up piling on my hard drive. I just back up my important stuff and do a quick and clean re-install.

This time however, the aftermath got really annoying. You know you always need to download and re-install all the essential stuff like a proper browser, music player, msn and stuff like that. Speaking of which. Seen the new MSN... I mean "Windows Live Messenger"? Take a look:

Isn't it absolutely fabulous? Now I can chat with my friends while I browse all the new, hip and cool stuff on the internet, click on interesting advertisements, socialize with even more people, use the awesome built-in search engine; bing and get up to date with important issues like who are the sexy male tattoo lovers, Courtney Cox and David Arquette called it quits and celebrity trend reports. This is what I really needed in my life all this time, I just didn't knew. I needed the new WLM to tell me. Thanks so much, now my life is complete.

No. I don't want this shit. Go away you obnoxious piece of corporate diarrhoea fuckfart. It might interest some retarded, new generation, self centred teenager who has rainbow coloured emo styled hair, owns an account on every single social networking site and has no real life friends or an actual life, but not me. I'm 22 for crying out loud, when I want to chat with my friends, I want to chat with my friends, not read about the latest god awful hairstyle of some washed up, train-wreck celebrity who I don't give a damn about.

This new WLM looks like garbage, I can't customize anything, I can't see 95% of my contacts for some reason, the actual MSN part is like 5% of the main screen, it won't leave me alone with stupid advertisements that NOBODY cares about, it's the worst WLM version ever... and I don't like it. No. I don't care if you can actually make these things go away. It shouldn't be my task to remove all this crap to make the application actually useful, user-friendly and enjoyable to use. Even simple, basic stuff are missing like chatting while appearing offline, make it remember only my name without my password, only send or receive webcams and I bet there are a ton of stuff missing. It's annoying

So I uninstall it and install the older version I used before. What do I get?

Okay, this thing is evil. Not only I can't login with my own account, I MUST upgrade to the previously uninstalled shitbiscuit. Great, just great, next time I have to cut off one of my fingers, record it, send it to Microsoft and then maybe I can login with my own goddamn account. Why have a "no" option if you won't let me in anyway? Want a kick in the balls? No? Here's one anyway. Enjoy.

If you don't browse the web for solutions and don't go to every underground forum then you can't do anything, you won't figure this out of your own unless you're some computer expert. I can thank only my persistence because I searched high and low and found to solution. So this goes out to any and all of you poor unfortunate souls who makes the same mistake.

Download and install WLM version 8.5.1302, right click on the exe file and set the compatibility to Windows 2000. Then you can finally log in. That's the only way for some obscure reason.

I'm sorry for the unusually angry post, I just felt the need to rant, 'cause this right here is some really dumb, annoying, redundant and obnoxious crap Microsoft's pulling on us.

Well, at least something good came out of this. I found a neat little application called Circle Dock. It provides a nice way to store your shortcuts on your desktop in an organized and stylish looking way. You can customize it pretty well too, lot of options, I recommend it.

Here's some really nice, calm music after all this tension.

What planet is this?

I love science fiction movies. They give the opportunity to let loose your imagination and the possibilities are endless. It's a genre you have to approach with an open mind and suspend your disbelief to truly enjoy and appreciate it. I could go on for ages about Sci-Fi movies from the 30's to this generation, but that's for another time. Today, I'd like to talk about a certain sub-genre and a certain movie from that sub-genre. It's an alien movie and a pretty unique one.

District 9.

I know it's more than a year old and most of you probably already seen it, but hey, I'm not here to talk about all the new movie releases, there are other sites for that. For those of you who didn't see it go and do so, or read on at your own risk because I'll give away a few things. In other words: SPOILERS.

Here's the story:

In 1982 a massive alien ship parks above Johannesburg, South Africa and just chills there for three months without giving any sign of activity. After a team enters the ship and find more than a million starving and beat down insect-humanoid aliens, they relocate them in a camp named District 9. Two decades pass and in 2010 the government hires a private military company, the Multinational United (MNU) to relocate all the aliens to District 10, another camp far from Johannesburg. Of course the MNU aren't so eager to help because they're such nice guys. District 9 is the home of alien weapon technology. Problem is, the weapons can read DNA signs and they only work in alien hands. The official reason behind the relocating of the aliens, is that the people can't stand them anymore near Johannesburg, protests and riots break out with violence and all that "good" stuff. The task is not so simple, because the alien inhabitants of District 9 don't really think as individuals, more like a hive. Only a very very few aliens are capable of fully individual thinking and can make intelligent, consistent decisions. Not to mention the Nigerian arms dealing gangs that settled in the district.

This is where our main protagonist comes in the picture, Wikus van de Merwe an Afrikaner bureaucrat. He's appointed by the head of MNU and his father-in law to lead the whole relocation operation. His job is to make the aliens sign the eviction papers, confiscate any weapons or other illegal stuff, and do whatever to settle things without violence, even use deadly force provided by the MNU soldiers. That's not hypocritical at all.

Here's the spoiler part: an unknown alien liquid sprays over him while he's searching a shack, he gets ill and starts to turn into an alien and he has to seek refuge in District 9 after he escapes from the MNU research facility where they experimented on him. The liquid turns out to be the fuel for the alien ship that an alien named Christopher Johnson gathered in the past 20 years. The only hope for the cure for Wikus is to help Christopher get to the mother ship. Now I won't spoil the ending, let's just say it's pretty epic and moving.

My opinion:

This movie rocks plain and simple. It's so unique, even by Sci-Fi standards. I love how it switches things up, making us humans the bad guys. If you really think about it, things would probably play out the same way in real life because, well... we're selfish assholes. We can't get along with our own species, how could we do so with a whole new intelligent one? Especially when they're at our mercy. It's a masterful statement on xenophobia and social segregation a mirror we should look into.

I like how they shot the film, I really dig this whole mock documentary style. The first half of the film is filled with news reports, handycam shots, but not to the point where the action becomes a messy, shaky closeup filled blur like in a bad Micheal Bay movie. The second half was shot like a more traditional movie, so it balances out well.

The guy who plays the lead, Sharlto Copley is a complete new face to the movie world, this was his first major role in a feature film and he does a wonderful job. He really makes the character come alive, he's believable in the role. At first he's your typical bureaucrat, white shirt with tie guy, a little awkward, shy and whimpy. But as the film goes by he becomes more and more of a badass and it's a believable change, you really see how he gets more desperate and determined at the same time. Wikus is a really human character and Copley pulls it of flawlessly, probably because nearly all of his dialog and acting is improvised.

I want to mention that this movie had an unbelievably low budget, around 30 million dollars. In comparison, Avatar's budget was 237 million $, Terminator Salvation cost 200 million $ and Transformers RotF also needed 200 million $.

The reason I mention this is because District 9 looks better than any of the above mentioned movies. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I never seen such convincing and real looking CG in my life. It's a thing that you can make super colorful and high definition blue aliens on a fluorescent planet or giant robots unconvincingly beating the shit out of each other. It's a whole other thing to actually make it look and feel real. The amount of detail is mind blowing, you really have to see with your own eyes. It doesn't even need all the bullshit 3D or tons of special effects to make it look better than it actually is. The reason why it looks so good is that it's not perfect. Everything has flaws just like in real life, nothing is crisp clear or too gritty, nothing is too shiny or plastic like, everything looks as it should look. The aliens are organic, the mother ship looks like it's made out of metal, everything feels natural and convincing.

I really recommend this film to all Sci-Fi lovers it's a must see. If you like social commentaries you should also see it. If you like eye candy and action I also recommend it. Just go see the damn movie whatever taste you have and whoever you are. You won't regret it.

Chop Poker - Chapter I

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> I only have assumptions and the approximate reasons why I blog. I say approximate because I'm not fully aware of my own reasons to do this stuff, in fact I think most of us aren't aware of the reasons for most things we do. Remember when you were a little kid and you did something supposedly wrong, so your parents asked; Why did you do it? You couldn't answer. Now there were times where you could but didn't wanted... but most of the times you really didn't know. There are certain things we just do... maybe out of instinct, maybe habit... maybe we feel obligated to express our opinions, feelings and whatnot to other people, possibly to many we don't even know.

So why do I blog? Maybe I feel I'm not heard out enough in real life, I kinda feel like people often don't care even when I have some important shit to say. People are stupid, they don't listen. I try to hear out and listen to them, consider their opinions and give them appropriate feedback. Why can't they do the same with me? Am I really that boring? I like to think not. All they care about is expressing their stupid opinion and they expect me to nod like I'm their pet monkey. God forbid my opinion differs from theirs... they usually try to change my mind on the spot. They don't get it that I have my well considered opinions just as much as they do. Exchanging opinions stooped down to a level where we try to change other people so they'll bend to our favor. I think a conversation shouldn't be about bending people to our favor, it's about hearing them out even if it's something outrageously stupid, then replying in a civil manner if possible. We can learn, gain from conversations, maybe even profit from them in one way to another. But no, most people feel like their opinions are the most important and most valid so they don't even care what other people have to stay. That's why they will remain stupid for the rest of their lives.

I also like to blog to challenge people. Not change them, just challenge their mind. I like to make them think on a deeper level than they do in their everyday lives. I like to paint on their mental canvas situations, emotions, thoughts, ideas and challenge their mind so they have to make themselves think harder and in a more complex way they usually do. To consider ideas they never faced before, to give them something fresh, a new input if you will that can stimulate their brain. People need to realize that there is more beneath the surface, there is a deeper line of thought. I don't say you always have to be a sententious asshole, because that's pure pretentious bullshit right there. I just say that sometimes when you have nothing better to do, or when you just feel like it, you can immerse in your thoughts or rather, immerse in other people's. Maybe it's only a foolish illusion from my part, maybe I can't challenge anyone. But I still try and if I manage to succeed then I accomplished something and it's for the better of both of us.

Of course I feel the natural need to let my voice be heard. It's a very human desire, we feel a little better about ourselves if we can express our views to a wider range audience and even if our readers only consist of people who we already know. You can't explain the same thing to everyone in the same way multiple times and you can't expect them not to derail the conversation. In fact, if you're talking to someone it's a good thing if you derail each other every now and then, it opens other doors to the conversation. But this is the beauty of writing a blog. You can express yourself without interruption, without sidetracking because of outside input. Often you write only for yourself, but somehow you feel better if you do. Also, it's a waste if you don't put your ideas out there. It's besides the point that who actually cares. Your ideas and opinions are always worthy to manifest in written form.True power lies in ideas. There are few better ways to express ideas than to write them down to the world. Especially if you don't have the opportunity to put your ideas into practice just yet.

I hope I encouraged some of you to start or continue to write your blogs. If not, at least I hope you'll continue to read this blog and others you deem worthwhile as well, in hopes that your mind gets challenged and it'll encourage you to think out of the box every now and then.

PS - Sorry folks, no music today. I'll make up for it next time.

The power of one

Damn. Can't sleep. Insomnia, my friend nice to see you again.

This is what happens if you get sleep on an irregular basis for months. We all experienced this at some point. One day, you sleep a good healthy 8+ hours, the next day you only manage to get 2 and the third day you sleep 12+ hours because you're exhausted as shit. It's only downhill from there, I can tell you that. This doesn't bode well for me, because school starts on Monday and I can't seem to force myself to do normal sleep-wake cycles. At the time I started writing this, it was half past four in the god damn morning and I just woke up after barely three hours of sleep. Yeah, I take my sweet time to write these posts, no need to rush. But anyway, waking up too early is bothersome even though I'm not that tired or anything, I actually feel well rested but by the time of noon I'll be in zombie mode.

So anyway, these times are good to do some thinking, because you're basically torn out from your normal life cycle. May sound stupid, but I feel like I'm in an alternate dimension where I can be alone... thinking. At times like these, I like to listen to chilled out, laid back stuff. Lyrics are not important, just the feel of the music. Keeps me relaxed, lifts up the tension, creates the mood for thinking.

I like to think out of the box every now and then. René Descartes, the French philosopher said "Cogito ergo sum" which basically means "I think therefore I am". What it means is that one cannot be sure of anything else but the existence of self. Not the surrounding world, only the existence of one's own self. Of course Descartes thought a bit differently about the subject in the 17th century than we do in these modern times, but I think it's fairly accurate to assume that with time, not only people but ideas tend to change quite a bit.

If this is all true, then we can easily apply this to every individual in the world. Every individual thinks, therefore they exist. If everyone in reality would be the figment of imagination of one's self, then they wouldn't have the same basic human properties as one's self does. Or maybe they would because arguably, we have the subconscious need to apply our basic human properties to others. I see what I did there, I just disproved my own hypothesis. It was nice arguing with myself, because I can always agree with me.

In the end I think that's one of the most intriguing beauties of life. To be able to think. If you're uncertain in everything, you can always be 100% sure about one thing. You think, therefore you exists. Even if you're just a figment of my imagination. If that's the case I subconsciously gave you the same basic human properties that I too posses, therefore you really exist because I made you exist. This works vica-versa, maybe I am a materialized figment of your imagination that became part of reality. But isn't it awfully peculiar that we share so much in common, even if we never met? Maybe somewhere a great mind which doesn't exist anymore started it all and it developed into a self sustaining system. Reality as we know it became, because "Cogito ergo sum". The mind is a powerful tool indeed.

...

I got distracted since I started writing this, so it's half past six in the morning. Guess what? I'm tired again. I wanted to elaborate more, but my mental capacity is inadequate for me to do so. I may finish this on a later occasion (probably not), but I need to get some sleep now, at least a few hours worth.

Hope you enjoyed my pointless philosophizing, I sure did.

Welcome to the Information Superhighway

The summer is almost over, so I think it's time for a summary on the things happened to me.

Sadly/Fortunately I didn't have the chance to go on a proper holiday or anything, so I spent the majority of my time in my hometown with my friends. To be completely honest I wasn't planning on anything of a big holiday, I was perfectly content with staying put because I had many good times with all my friends throughout the summer.

Especially Microwave Jellyfish. I spent most time with him this summer drinking, working out, philosophizing about some deep stuff, listening to Tool, Offsprint, Nine Inch Nails and of course, watching really shitty movies. What I'm trying to say is thanks, man. I don't know what would I do without you, you're a real good, true and cherished friend. Real shame that you have to go to university... oh well, we still have the opportunities to get piss drunk on weekends.

Other than that, I had plenty of time deciding what to do with my future. I'm turning 22 this year so I think it was about time I decided. I'm going to be a policeman in two years. Yeah, me of all people with my rebellious nature and constant questioning of authority. But now, other people gonna respect my authoretaaay (thumbs up if you get the reference). Seriously though, it has decent benefits. Pretty decent payment, retirement after only 20 years, and nobody can tell me shit expect my superiors. Seeing how I can't afford going to university and I can't possibly expect my parents to support my sorry ass for another five or more years, it's the best thing I can do right now. When I'm completely on my own, I can go do other stuff in my free time, like giving English lessons or something.

You know the feeling when you're looking back and say "man, summer was sure as hell short"? No such thing here, the summer was long and sweet for me and I'm actually longing for school days and for the fall and winter. I want to finally graduate and move on to other things. I couldn't get a job this summer so I actually want to do something productive already rather than doing nothing all day. It was good and all but I'm getting bored with myself.

I wanted to write more, but I kinda lost interest and this post is already starting to get longer than my previous ones. Not much of an information superhighway but I gotta keep up the consistency, you know?

Thanks to all my friends for this summer, to the whole Crew, the Meat A.K.A. Microwave Jellyfish, Sirok, Fatima, Yassy, to my cousin Peto, to the ones who are too far away like Kai, Mitsu, Ren and Serena. I know I didn't mentioned many of you, but if I were to write the names of all of you people, I'd sit here until tomorrow, but thanks to you unmentioned folks too. You guys rock, I love every single one of you and I'm glad I have friends like you.

The Offspring - One fine Day - MyVideo

Elevator Music

Guess it's bloggin' time, seeing how I can't really do anything today. This is going to be a disjointed and short post I can tell you now. Mostly because I don't have anything valuable to say, but I feel obligated to post something anyway.

It's the 20th of August, a major national high day in my country. You probably know what it's about if you're from the same country, and chances are, you don't give a shit if you're from any other one. Hell, you probably don't give a shit even if you're too from my country. I can see the pretentious patriots' heads swelling up right now gasping for air to protest how they do and what am I thinking and blah blah blah. It's fine, don't lie, you don't have to. I know you don't care. It's all about the booze, the girls/boys and the fireworks and I wouldn't have it any other way.

All my friends went to university camp to drink until they become unconscious and have unprotected, premarital sex. Good riddance, I hope they do all sorts of really "nasty" stuff. My cousin and I had some major drinking plans for today too, because we don't hang out as much as we used to. But here's the reason I mentioned this national high day; NOTHING is open. No bar, pub, shop, supermarket, nothing. So our plans are completely foiled, so we put off our plans 'till tomorrow.

So what am I going to do? Play Borderlands and annoy the few people up on MSN who share the same fate as I do today.

Don't pick it up

So just yesterday I watched one of Uwe Boll's most recent "movie" titles called Rampage. Fortunately, I had the company of Microwave Jellyfish so I didn't have watch this travesty of a movie alone, a fact from which my sanity benefited greatly. Now don't think I'm a rabid Boll hater, because I'm not. His movies often fall in the category of "so bad it's good" and I like that, I like crappy movies that can entertain me with their crappyness. I only wish he would leave alone my beloved game franchises.

The movie is about a kid in his early twenties (played by a 29 year old actor) who gets fed up with the world and it's deep running problems, so he builds a full body kevlar armor suit, gets a few automatic guns and a few hundred pounds of explosives. Don't ask how he manages to get his hands on military grade stuff like this because it's never explained, just roll with it, it will be easier that way. So one day he completely snaps because his parents want him to move out because he's a good for nothing dipshit and... because the coffee is like shit in the local Starbucks apparently. He tells his asshole dad and one hell of a MILF mom (who looks younger than him even though she's played by a 45 year old actress) that he'll stay home filling some school papers, but it's a lie of course. After that it's just one boring and repetitive shootout scene after the other. Oh, and he robs a bank and burns the money, but not really because he keeps the majority of it and frames his friend to... oh dear lord, do you really care about this shit? I sure don't.

All in all the movie is not so surprisingly pure crap. I don't know why or how it's holding a 6.4 average on IMDB with over two thousand ratings, but I bet everyone was on crack while voting. The movie does have some redeeming qualities, like the scene where he eats a sandwich in full gear, in the middle of a big bingo game and nobody even pays attention to him. Or the scene where... wait, that's about it. I also felt really really sick during this movie because every scene seems to have terrible shaky camera control, as if the camera-man was caught in the middle of a mosh-pit and never got out.

Sadly, this is not a Boll movie that's entertaining because it's bad. It's almost unwatchable, due to the camera, the inhumanly boring action scenes and the crap story. It could've made a decent half hour short movie, but sadly this isn't the case.

The ending theme was nice, though.

A modern myth

It's Friday the 13th.

I can only hope a large musclebound psycho with a hockey mask doesn't murder me in the most gruesome way. Come to think of it, the Friday the 13th movies were pretty horrible even for their time. Does that mean I hate them? Of course not, I freaking love all of them. They have a stupid charm that can only be outmatched by the Nightmare on Elm Street series. I never was a big Halloween fan so I just leave that out. I know it's the big horror/slasher triumvirate for many people, but Halloween just never cut it for me.

But I'm not here to talk about the movies right now, I'm here to talk a little about the whole Friday the 13th myth. Being an atheist and skeptic myself, I can say right now that it's a bunch of baseless silliness. Well not exactly baseless, but the things giving it a base are pretty stupid too. You can all check out the origins of this myth on this WIKIPEDIA page. I could make some long winded, solid argument against the whole thing, but hey... if you're a rational and well educated person, you can probably tell that it's all make-belief. But that's just how we people are... we tend to believe any far fetched stupid stuff if enough people believe in it.

What I'm trying to say is this; don't believe this superstitious nonsense, it's just another day in the calendar, only difference is that it's over-mystified by the masses. You have nothing to fear, you can go outside the house, you have the same chance to have something terrible happen to you just like on any other day. Hmm... that didn't came out right now did it?

Now if you excuse me, I have to check the door. My neighbor gave me a phone call that a nice looking young man with a hockey mask is standing there since hours. He must be lost and looking for directions, god forbid maybe he's hurt from that hockey match he probably attended.

Solitude by the Window

As rays of sunlight seep through the small holes of my shutters I turn on my back on the bed and take a deep breath. The fan near me gives a constant, but tolerable buzzing sound and a relieving breeze from the sultry hotness. The papers on my desk weave in the air as if they try to tell me to move... to tear myself away from this perpetual limbo I'm in right now. But I'm enjoying it. It's the strange, a bit unsettling but at the same time really serene feeling, sort of an emotional paradox. I feel like I should do something... but I won't, no sense of urgency, nothing to do. I don't really want to change anything right now; even the slightest change would ruin this idyllic picture. What a serene and happy feeling... gives you the opportunity to rest, relax and think.

You know it's sad how most people can't just sit back or lay down on the coast on top of a small dock. Just listening to the sound of the world surrounding you, watching the water ripple. I wonder why most people can't do that anymore. It may sound like a terribly over-used cliché, but be honest, friend; when was the last time you did something like this? Think about it, don't just pretend, but do it for real. Always in need of some input, letting no respite for your own self, constantly feeding your brain with useless data, forcing it to multi-task all the time. Thinking is not boring for it is the sole ability that separates us from the rest of the lifeforms on this planet.

The next time you have free time on your hands, when you can do whatever you want think about all this. Don't play videogames, don't watch a movie, don't even turn on your computer, console or TV. Go out or if it's raining sit near the window and just listen. Listen and think, try to truly relax, let go of yourself. Take some time to give yourself a much needed respite.

You will be happier.

Blast Off to Nowhere

I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed.

If I were to ask you the question; what's your favorite thing about the Internet, what would you reply? I prefer the same things here that I do in real life too. Sex, weird shit, entertainment, information and the fact that I am part of it.

There are almost two billion Internet users worldwide. In the ever expanding realm of the cyberspace that's a rather small number if you think about it, but more than enough to give me the chance to catch the interest of a few of them. The Internet is the strangest phenomenon of the modern world. It inspires all two billion people to come up with stuff ranging from incredibly intellectual to unthinkably stupid, the spectrum is all over the place. That's why I love this seemingly infinite stream of flowing data and that's why I decided to create my own Internet journal, written in the language second most commonly used around the world; English. First being Chinese but I don't have 15 years to learn it and I don't think my demography would be the same I aim for right now.

So what can you expect from this blog? I like to think that I'm a man of extremes. One day, I'm a genius, capable of deep and intellectual thinking and the next day, I'm a drooling idiot who can't form a cohesive sentence. I'll try to give my unique perspective on everyday stuff like music, games, religion, politics, celebrities, art, maybe a little poetry and all that good jazz, with a twist of my own life's happenings sprinkled with not so everyday topics, but let hang in the future for now.

Oh... who am I? Does it matter? Do you really care? What do you care more about? Me or what I have to say? Maybe neither, but you wouldn't made it this far if that's the case. But here's a quick presentation of me, as a person, not just a computer screen.

I am Eon Blue.
